As our writers and our most attentive readers and supporters know, Match Factory Editions books feature rad covers designed by Gretchen Hasse. Those who end up collecting all of our books will have a rainbow-like shelf deserving of envious oohs and aahs.
But designing covers is just one of Gretchen’s many talents and credits. We’re talking: sculpture. Comics. Murals. Live action video. Animation. Curation. Puppetry.
The latter has recently taken shape as The Dinosaur Opera, which caught the attention of WGN News, The Chicago Reader, and The Regional News. Gretchen is showing The Dinosaur Opera in installments at various Chicago venues, and the next one is at Aloft Circus Arts, as a part of their April edition of Communion, a monthly group show.
If you’re in or near Chicago, get your ticket and head to Aloft Circus Arts at 3324 W Wrightwood Ave on April 19, 2025. The event starts at 8:30 PM.
Prefer a gallery to a circus? Head over to Agitator Artist Collective at 3851 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL, 60647, where Gretchen is exhibiting her new work as a part of the member show Trains Rattling, which opens April 12 and closes May 2, 2025.
